Lyrics

Light On - © June 2016 Jon MacDonald, Dana Blayone

She woke up to the pouring rain,
Got up and walked to the window pane,
Dreamt all night about her wedding gown,
First worn by her grandma, now it’s been passed down,
Thought about everything he said,
how he promised that someday she’d wear it,

But it’s the same old story year after year,
He’s off chasing silver buckle steers,
Calls her up nearly every night,
To tell her that he loves her and asks if she’s alright

He says, Please girl leave a light on,
Show is almost over, I need something to ride for,
And darling that’s you,
She hangs up, with no good-bye
Feels a storm clouds brewing in the summer night sky
And She thinks, he’s never coming home.
But turns the light on.

Time’s running out on this Go-round,
This lonely heart’s all broken down
All Hung up it’s bad hell
Praying to god it will turn out some how

Hey says, Please girl leave a light on,
Show is almost over, I need something to ride for,
And darling that’s you,
She hangs up, with no good-bye,
Feels a storm clouds brewing in the summer night sky
And She thinks, he’s never coming home.
But turns the light on.

He woke up to the pouring rain,
Got up and walked to the window pane,
Dreamt about her in that wedding gown,
First worn by her grandma, and how its been passed down,
Thought about everything he said,
how he promised that someday she’d wear it.
